the reverend luther zeigler, minister
The Reverend Luther Zeigler has been the Minister of Emmanuel since Easter 2012. Prior to Emmanuel Church, Luther served as the Episcopal Chaplain to Harvard University, where he was affiliated with Christ Church Cambridge. When he is not serving Emmanuel, Luther is the Pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newington, New Hampshire.
Luther served for many years as a school chaplain, including at the St. Alban’s School for Boys in Washington, D.C., the Washington Episcopal School in Bethesda, MD, and the St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, MD. He consults for the Diocese of Massachusetts regarding its Episcopal schools.
For many years, Luther was the Chairman of the Board and President of Bethany House of Prayer, a center for spiritual direction and religious retreat in Arlington, MA. He has served on the Boards of many other nonprofit organizations in the recent past, including Harvard’s Phillips Brooks House Association, the umbrella organization that houses the University’s public service and social justice programs, and Y2Y Harvard Square, a homeless shelter for youth organized and run by Harvard College students.

Musician
Priscilla walter
Priscilla has served as organist/choir director at Trinity Luther Church, Milford, CT; Congregational Church, Essex; St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gloucester; Congregational Church of Topsfield; Ascension Memorial Episcopal Church, Ipswich. In recent years she has served as interim director of music at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Beverly Farms and interim organist at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Portsmouth, N.H.
She had a private piano studio for 15 years and accompanied in the Essex Voice Studio of Margot Warner for 20 years. Her extensive work as accompaniest includes the Methuen Young Peoples Theater at the Methuen Music Hall, Newburyport Choral Society, and the Cape Ann Symphony Chorus.
Priscilla has lived in Essex since 1978.

The church is guided and legally governed by elected Trustees who each serve four-year, staggered terms, with the possibility of being re-elected to one additional four-year term. The Trustees in turn are advised by a Church Council, also elected, and several ex officio officers who serve as Altar Guild, Secretary, Treasurer, Archivist, and Memorial Garden Chair.
